Time to Talk

Comics and mental health
On Saturday May 23rd, we were due to launch our third book of the year, I Thought I was Undone – The Ballad of Captain Kidd.
The book is a special one for us, as it was the last project we completed with artist Andy Lee – the first artist to create comics for Magic Torch, and a regular contributor to so many of our projects.
Sadly, Andy took his own life in November 2018. And it took us a while to return to the book, but we spoke with Andy’s family, and agreed that we should publish it, but with all profits to charities supporting mental health in Inverclyde. And that is what we had hoped to do this weekend – however we have decided to postpone the release for now, and hope to rearrange later in the year.
From today though, you can read a free preview of the book, and add your name to our mailing list
to be notified of the new release date and launch event.
Given everything that is going on just now, and the impact we know that is having on peoples mental health and wellbeing, we also wanted to highlight an excellent project being run in Inverclyde by Mind Mosaic – a Covid 19 helpline for keyworkers for which we were asked to create a short video, which you can see below.

Earlier this month, we were asked to produce some artwork for the Afrowegian Project , imagining an Afro-Futurist version of the story of real world cycling superhero, Marshall 'Major' Taylor. The comic display panels form part of an exhibition by the riverside in Glasgow throughout October. You can read more about the work of the project and how to get involved. We're looking forward to doing some more collaborative work with Afrowegian's Jim Muotone, down in Inverclyde over the next few months.
