Callander Comics and Story Maps

There are exciting times ahead for Magic Torch Comics CIC over the next year, with so many amazing projects, comics and books lined up. So, we’ve decided to get better at sharing the stories of some of the projects we are working on via our blog…

Last month, we were delighted to win the contract to deliver a Gaelic Art programme for the Callander’s Landscape project, which is supported by Heritage Lottery Fund. The project will work with schools to create a dual language comic, in English and Gaelic, retelling some of the folklore, myths and legends of Callander. An illustrated story-map of the area, charting the history of place names and their associated stories will also be created in partnership with Creative in Callander. Workshops start in September, and the comic and story map will be released in 2020.

We look forward to introducing you to Ceat Mor, hostess of the Tigh Mhaide, who will tell us tales of giants, waterhorses and family feuds.

And you can also read a Gaelic language comic we created with Argyll and Bute Council.
